Veroboard, anyone?

Ok, I'm a Limey who was raised on easy electronic construction with Veroboard, and would you believe, almost nobody here Stateside seems to have heard of it.

It looks a bit like "perfboard" a circuit board with a grid of holes, but don't for a moment think they are equivalent.
Whereas perfboard ...

NASA ANTENNA BEING REPURPOSED FOR SATELLITE TRACKING SYSTEM

PAUL/ANCHOR: Retirement isn’t for everyone and that includes antennas - especially ones used by NASA for many of its historic space missions over the years. Graham Kemp VK4BB tells us about one historic antenna that’s gone back into service in Australia.

MT. ATHOS DXPEDITION HALTS AMID CONTROVERSY

AUL/ANCHOR: Our top story this week takes us to Greece, where the Mt. Athos SV1GA/A DXpedition team halted their activation shortly after it got under way, amid challenges over whether they had permission to be there. The coveted DX entity has been a World Heritage Site since 1988 and is listed as …login to view the rest of this post

Top Contesting Secrets: Break Through Pile-Ups Like a Pro!

As a 100W, dumb luck and a wire kind of operator, this seems so good advice, practical and realistic.
There's lots more from Randy on Youtube, so let him know you like his efforts to help you!

Re: MPARC Hamfest - February 1, 2025

The Hamfest was well attended and, as they say, a good time was had by all.
Many of the usual kinds of items for sale, but it seemed that many "boat anchors" found new homes for reasonable prices.
I so nearly bought a Mint-condition Heathkit GR-78, complete with manual -my first real receiver.
Then ...

Extensive upgrade completed.

The "bricks" from phpBB used to build The Hambone have been upgraded to 3.3.14, and php to 8.1.31 .

Why? To cover a vulnerability or two, and improve robustness and functionality of some older code.

Astonishingly, it all appears to work, but with a few minor wrinkles mostly ironed out now.

Re: The best diode type for a crystal set?

Much to think about. Thanks rob, KC4NYK. :D
