Is you club full of members, diverse ages, genders, even ethnicity? And is the next generation of hams well cared for?
Do non-members in your area know what amateur radio is? Ask a stranger and you'll be appalled, even shocked. They will not join you if they don't know you. We must put this right. Show and tell what we do.
Most clubs are ageing, mostly male, guess which ethnicity .... not at all the same as the younger generation at large. So what to do?
When i operate in the field, a park, vacation whatever, I set up my little table, QRP rig, face to the public, and display this sign:
Feel free to copy, improve, whatever!
It just says:
"FCC licensed Amateur "Ham" radio station
KX4QC
Richmond Amateur Radio Club rarclub.net QRcode
Ask me all about it!"
Yes, it works!
Ham radio is fascinating -when you know what it is.
Make a sign. Tell folks what you're up to. (Well, some of it anyway.) You'll be amazed!

Re: THIS is ham radio in action...
Callsigns all very good for established hams, but maybe "Joe /Jane Public" would like to know your name?
It would make asking questions easier?
Maybe this is a great sign, but we also need to remember that we also need to communicate with non-hams; they are our next members!
