Here's an easy-build FM broadcast receiver, with case, all parts and even basic instruction sheet.

Sometimes construction projects need to fit under an arbitrary $10, and this does easily.

Suitable for a beginner? I think so, particularly if started with an Elmer. The IC soldering is already done, and the discrete components are easily seen and should present no particular challenge to place. It might help to try a little practice soldering a few joints first before starting the kit.
