Here's a few starting references for basic info about Amateur Radio SSTV, how to do it, and how it works:

A disclaimer right from the start: I get a lot of fun out of a very simple SSTV setup, and so could you. I'm certainly no expert!

Well, that should get you going with some easy and not-so-easy reading. If some seems a tad technical, just remember that modern SSTV free software takes are of most things, so all you have to do is enjoy the pictures!
