There are online and local courses run by friendly experts or you can learn online, or by books. A summary is at https://www.arrl.org/learning-programs
How did I do it? I'll tell you, to save you asking, but be careful following the example. I was lucky to have most of the electronic theory already from a previous (mis-spent?) life, so I had only to bone up on the regulatory and legal topics. I bought the three ARRL books Get them at Amazon, ARRL.org, B&N...:
about 3 weeks before the quiz, and by dumb luck I passed the Tech, General and Extra the same day. Unless you have a working knowledge of AC theory, do not do the quiz like this. Set time aside to learn carefully and try the practice questions. The books are easy to find at ARRL, Amazon etc.
For what it's worth, I found the freebie HamExam app very useful to check what needed more study. This bare-bones app will drill you in the entire question pool, so you get no unpleasant surprises on The Quiz Day.
HamExam is available on Google Play, Apple Store,
Windows https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail ... BLGGH0K2SB
Mac http://hamexam.com/mac/,
and is included with most Linux distros.
or if you want it online, https://hamexam.org/ where there are lots of recommended study material pointers.
