Portable lightweight loop antenna

My main interest in the hobby has been getting into POTA and SOTA. I’d like the ability to bring two antennas with me at all times. I mostly envision myself backpacking for anywhere from 2-7 days at a time; portability is a must.

I’ve decided my arsenal will include an EFHW, some sort of vertical such as a Buddistick or Wolf River Coil, and something like this magnetic loop. I’ll only carry two at a time. The design of this loop with its light weight and compactness is very intriguing.

Let’s get building!

Interesting!
Little like the Ciro M ones, and gamma-matched too.

At present, I use a Chameleon loop for QRP and it's very portable, but soooo particular to tune. A good match gives astonishing results, but just a whisker off best, well, you might as well not be there!

It would be fun to compare these two. And BTW, I didn't understand what is that thing like a little bird perched on the top? Maybe comes with free parrot?? Anyway, impressive even with no livestock included!

I think it switches capacitors with a good ol’ fashioned switch. No fancy motors on this one. Although I suppose one could rig a small RC car motor to it and supply it off a 9V battery or such  .

Much research needs to be done, but I am going to make one before long.
