Here's an interesting device, usually out of stock in US, but easily available by mail from UK, Martin Lynch & Sons Ltd.
It can act as a hotspot, dongle or even DMR AMBE encoder for D-Star, Fusion or DMR.

There is a summary in
Globetrotter.pdf

DVMEGA Globetrotter, Call from anywhere to anyone.m4v
So, with this it seems that if you have just a simple computer audio setup, you have D-Star, Fusion and DMR. Why would anyone want to use a radio?

OK, it's ham radio isn't it, even if you don't need a radio to use it?

Another wrinkle in the "What is modern Amateur Radio?"

Any thoughts? :o
