Well, being a cheapskate, I blundered by this:
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805592056899.html
It purports to be an auto-tuning mobile antenna, good for HF to 100W. but just look at the price!
Here are s couple of photos, on a vehicle and a detail, and a video:

It looks like this price includes a controller, but if not, here is one for $145.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568045 ... for $145.
-And since we mention it, here's the link to the real Tarheel products:
https://www.tarheelantennas.com/online_sales
So what's the point of this post? I guess that I had a really good day out with the Dominion DX Group, activating Pocohontas State Park this last weekend. Many people used the fine Wold River coils and vertical antennas, while I had much fun with the versions described here on The Hambone for a fraction of the cost.
Do we actually get what we pay for?
Should old, but maybe good designs be produced indefinitely? -Nothing wrong with Drake, TenTec...?
Should we always choose "home market" products or use the internet to increase the choice?
Well, The Hambone is for YOU to write. -Unless you have nothing to say and no opinion, then you are politely excused from the effort of a couple of words!
